Theresa Clement (Heider)

Theresa Heider
September 19, 1953 - April 5, 2017

Theresa Louise Heider was born September 19, 1953 in Ord, Nebraska to Don and Phyllis Clement. She attended Valley Side School in Mira Valley, NE before graduating from Kearney High School in 1971 in Kearney, NE. She later graduated from Kearney State College with a degree in Special Education in 1975. In 1979, she married David Heider and had two children, Christa and Timothy.
Theresa was a loving mother and devoted wife of thirty-seven-years. Most of all, she was a dedicated Christian who served her Savior through service to her family and to her church. While setting a Proverbs 31 example as a faithful wife and mother, she taught in her church’s Christian school and worked in the nursery for many years. Her sweet spirit and contagious smile brought warmth to all around her. She loved to share that warmth through hospitality in her home as she collected dishes and recipes, sheets and overnight baskets. She exercised her passion for teaching by dutifully homeschooling her children, and years later, starting her own reading tutoring business. Her children and students loved her, and attributed their love for reading to her influence. She was an adventurous dreamer who worked toward her dreams through research and pictures. Her dreams extended from owning a beautiful home for her hospitality gift, and traveling to Europe to visit a family-related castle. But through it all, she was selfless and loving, always putting others above herself. In the words of a friend, she was “everything a godly woman should be.”

She is survived by her husband, David Heider of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Christa Heider Madrid and her husband Michael Madrid of Dumas, TX; granddaughter, Amaris Madrid of Dumas, TX; son, Timothy Heider of Amarillo, TX; brother, Ed Clement of Eads, TN; brother, Vic Clement of Doniphan, NE; brother, Rex Clement of Lafayette, TN and her parents, Donald and Phyllis Clement of Ord, NE.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Bertha Clement of Ord, NE; and Erlow and Ruth Babcock of Santa Ana, CA.
