Obituary for Vicki L Mullen

Combined graveside services for Roger Mullen, 67 of Omaha and formerly of Kearney who died, September 2, 2015 at his residence and his sister, Vicki L. Mullen, 62 of Kearney who died, December 22, 2015 at her residence will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Kearney Cemetery. The Rev. James DeLoach will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Humane Society. A potluck celebration will be held following the service at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.  

Roger was born October 3, 1947 in Kearney to James F. and LaVaughn (Hadwiger) Mullen in Kearney. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney. He attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School through 8th grade. He was a 1965 graduate of Kearney High School. He worked as CPA in Omaha for several years.

At the time of his death he was survived by his sister, Vicki of Kearney, uncle Ken Hadwiger and his wife, Jerri of Kearney and numerous cousins.

His parents preceded him in death.

Vicki was born July 15, 1953 in Kearney to James F. and LaVaughn ( Hadwiger) Mullen. She was baptized as an infant at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney and was confirmed there on May 17, 1967. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1971 and Central Community College in Hastings in 1973.

Vicki was an original member of the “Theater Gang” working at the World Theater and the Kearney Drive In Theater while in high school and college. She also worked at Grandpa’s Steak House and the Cellar Bar & Grill. She was employed at Baldwin Filters for many years beginning in the IT department before becoming their Credit Manager. After leaving Baldwin Filters she worked as an independent research analyist for a number of retail businesses on the east coast and completed her working career at Cabela’s in Kearney. 

She enjoyed playing on softball teams and bowling leagues. She liked reading, traveling and socializing with friends and family.

She is survived by her uncle, Ken Hadwiger and his wife, Jerri of Kearney, numerous cousins, her beloved dog, Rahla and many friends who she knew since her early school days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger.

I have many good memories of time spent with Vicki and also from working with her @ Cabela's it was always a joy to run into her at breaks

Vicki will be missed by everyone who ever knew her! We had so much fun together in high school. She could laugh and party with the best of them. She was a hard worker and most of all a genuine friend. God's peace is with you now and always, Vicki.
